Our Spontaneous Adventure

A week ago, I went to a SAA meeting like usual. When I got home I didn't even make it to the front door and Ryan greeted me with that look... the  I-know-you-are-going-to-say-no-but-hear-me-out-first-look. He and his mom had been talking while I was gone about a way for us to be able to meet them in Colorado to go skiing for a couple of days. I knew Ryan had been dying to go, and I myself had been wanting to go again. It was just the part of him telling me Tuesday night and we needed to be on a plane by Thursday morning. AHHHHH! This meant I had to meet my mom in Georgetown Wednesday to drop off Audra, drive back home, and still pack. I am not good with last minute changes/adventures, but I agreed. I got everything done and it was totally worth it. Ryan and I had not been skiing/snowboarding in over 5 years. It was refreshing and we had a blast!

Trying on our Ski outfits  (Charlie wanted to come with us)

Ok so I have like four layers on and I was still freezing. There was literally people walking around in pants and T-shirts.

This was downtown Denver in between a legal office and a bar. All you need is beer, marijuana, and a lawyer and you are Good (Sarcasm just to clarify)!

Downtown Denver was gorgeous. This was a cool sitting area.

Our Awesomest, bestest, greatest friends ended up being in Denver the same day we were. It was a great unplanned plus to our trip.

Their little boy didn't get his nap and was miserable towards the end. Poor Ezra!

Headed to the lodge and the scenery was breathtaking!

I felt like I was in the middle of a Christmas card!

Ready to Ski!

The boys: Ryan's dad, Ryan, and his brothers.

The gorgeous girls!

The last picture before we had to head back home!

So thankful that Ryan's parents gave us the trip. It was such a blessing. It gave Ryan some encouragement that this is something he will be able to do for his family one day. These kinds of vacations will be his rewards later for all his hard work in Med school. I am looking forward to it. Just around the corner... 6 years or so! :)

Grandaddy- A Small Town Hero

On January 8th, 2011 Richard Huff, My Grandaddy, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. It was a long, hard road for him, but I know he is not suffering anymore. His funeral was yesterday and despite sleet, ice, and snow tons of people came regardless. What does this say about him?

He was a man of faith, honor, and consistency.
He was a man who was loved and looked up too. Everyone knew Richard in his little town of Arkansas.
He was a man of love. He was married to my grandmother over 53 years.
He was a man of hard work. You can see houses he built or helped build all over in his town.
He was a man of jokes. He was constantly making people laugh.
Most importantly, He was a man that loved God and devoted his life to Him. That is why I know so many people loved him. He lived a life of example. One way I know this to be true is the last time I got to see him was a few days before Christmas. My grandparents door and wall were covered with Christmas cards all hand written about their love for Richard and reasons why. Card after card had things about his willingness to help others without asking anything in return. How when people would move into town they would be directed to get to know him, because he would always be there for them.

Although he is gone on earth. I am glad that I will get to see him again in heaven. He will be able to be his joking, laughing, healthy self. I thank God for the time I had with my Grandaddy, one of my heroes.

I love you and will miss you!
